Recipe Tips:

  • Make the Syrup Right: Stir the sugar and cocoa powder well before adding water to prevent lumps. Let the syrup cool fully before using so it thickens properly.
  • Use Freshly Brewed Coffee: The coffee or espresso should be hot and fresh for the best flavor. Instant coffee won’t give the same rich taste.
  • Steam the Milk for a Creamy Texture: Use a milk frother or heat milk on the stove, then whisk until foamy. This makes the mocha smooth and creamy, just like McDonald’s.
  • Add Syrup to Taste: Start with 1 tablespoon of peppermint syrup and taste before adding more. Too much syrup can overpower the coffee.
  • Top with Real Whipped Cream: Use fresh whipped cream instead of store-bought for a rich, creamy topping. If using canned whipped cream, add it just before drinking so it doesn’t melt too fast.

How To Store Leftovers?

Let the leftover peppermint mocha cool to room temperature. Then, pour it into an airtight container and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days. Before drinking, give it a good stir or shake, as the ingredients may settle.
