Jump to RecipeIngredients Needed:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon finely grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 garlic clove
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 2 ounces mozzarella cheese
- 2 ounces white cheddar cheese
How To Make Grilled Cheese?
- Mix the butter spread: In a small bowl, combine butter, Parmesan, and garlic until smooth.
- Assemble the sandwiches: Spread the butter mixture on one side of each bread slice. Place mozzarella and white cheddar on the unbuttered side of two slices, then top with the remaining bread, buttered side facing out.
- Cook the sandwiches: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Place sandwiches in the pan and cook for about 5 minutes, until golden brown.
- Flip and finish: Carefully turn the sandwiches over and cook the other side until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
- Serve: Slice and enjoy while warm!

Recipe Tips:
- Use room temperature butter: Softened butter spreads evenly on the bread, helping it toast evenly without burning.
- Grate your cheese: Pre-sliced cheese doesn’t melt as well. Freshly grated or sliced cheese melts faster and gives a creamier texture.
- Press the sandwich lightly: Gently press down with a spatula while cooking to help the bread crisp up and the cheese melts evenly.
- Cook on low heat: If the heat is too high, the bread will burn before the cheese melts. Medium-low heat gives the best golden crust and gooey cheese.
- Let it rest for 1 minute before slicing: Cutting the sandwich too soon can make the cheese spill out. Letting it sit helps the cheese settle and stay inside.
How To Store & Reheat Leftovers?
- Refrigerate: Let the grilled cheese cool down first. Then, wrap it in foil or put it in a sealed container. Keep it in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- Reheat: Heat a pan over medium-low heat. Place the sandwich in the pan and cook for about 2–3 minutes per side until crispy and hot.
